100% Data Sovereignty
OfflineTranscriber is built on the principle of Privacy by Design. Unlike cloud-based tools, we do not (and cannot) transfer, see, or store your audio/video files. All processing happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly and ONNX technology.
1. What We Collect (and Don't)
We distinguish between your content and usage information to ensure maximum transparency:
User Content (The "Zero-Touch" Policy)
- Audio & Video Files: These are processed entirely within your device's RAM. No bit of your media is ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party AI provider (like OpenAI).
- Transcripts & Text: Generated locally. They exist only in your browser session and disappear when the tab is closed, unless you choose to save them to your local Dashboard.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Device Information: We may detect your OS and CPU capabilities (e.g., SIMD support) purely to determine if your hardware can run the AI models efficiently.
2. How We Use Information
We use limited technical information to:
- Maintain Performance: Identifying performance bottlenecks in the local browser environment.
- Communication: If you reach out for support, we use your email to respond to your inquiry.
3. Local Storage & Cookies
We use your browser's local storage for two main purposes:
- App State: Remembering your AI model preferences (Tiny/Small) and UI theme.
- Dashboard (Optional): If you use the "Save to Gallery" feature, your transcripts are stored in your browser's IndexedDB. We never sync this data to the cloud.
4. Third-Party Services
OfflineTranscriber relies on a few trusted partners for infrastructure, none of whom receive your audio content:
- Hugging Face / Cloudflare: Used to host and deliver the AI model files to your browser for the first time.
- Google Analytics (GA4): Used to measure aggregated website traffic and product usage trends, helping us improve reliability, usability, and onboarding performance. We do not use analytics to collect audio/video content or transcript text. View Their Policy.
- Stripe: Used to process license purchases and related payment events. Payment card data is handled by Stripe; we only receive limited transaction metadata (for example, payment status, amount, currency, and billing email) required for license fulfillment and support.
5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Even though we don't hold your personal data on our servers, you have full control over what's on your machine:
- Right to Erasure: You can clear all Dashboard data and local settings at any time by clearing your "Site Data" in browser settings.
- No Data Sale: We do not, and will never, sell your data to third parties. Our business model is based on Pro features, not data monetization.
6. Security
By eliminating the cloud transfer step, we eliminate the primary attack vector for data breaches. Your data is as secure as your own device. We recommend keeping your browser updated to the latest version for the best local security sandbox.
